Ramps

Ramps are one of our absolute favorite plants to forage for! They're native to the Northeast and similar to a cross between onions and garlic in flavor and a delectable addition to everything from eggs to meat to stews or potatoes (and everything in between)! If you love garlic salt, ramp salt is a magical alternative. Equally incredible is ramp pesto! The pesto can be frozen for year-round enjoyment. They are an exciting treat as one of the first edible things to emerge here on the land every year in Upstate NY.

We ask that you please only purchase these if you plan on planting them, not consuming the entire lot. We are sustainably selecting plants from our land with the sustainable community goal of spreading their numbers to your land.

Ramps are often harvested for food with little regard for sustainability. We have repeatedly transplanted ramps in testing with success. Ramps like moist, rich, well-drained soil with good organic matter in part shade/part sun. We follow the herbalist's recommendation to harvest one leaf per plant each year to keep their population strong and coming back year after year. While many do consume the bulbs, we only harvest leaves for sustainability reasons.

Quantity description: As this is a plant that is a bulb, 100 potted plants is 100 bulbs that are growing as mature plants. We typically include extras. The larger the order, the more extras you receive :) Quantities are limited, as we only offer a small amount each season for sustainability goals.
